It ensures a Link, even if the html is stripped out.
Anchor text and target – you can choose where the link points to and what it says.
Not cannibalised by Twitter – by embedding the content, you will get the link. This is opposed to the content being Tweeted, where you won’t get the link.
Embedded content is hard to build
It’s hard to incentivise – people need a reason to put it on their site.
